This is a beautiful photo, Dann, and it highlights that we NEED time for solitude, if it is to regenerate ourselves – in mind, body and spirit.
Solitude also has another side that is potentially less positive, and if we find we are immersed in that type, then we need to do our very best to take a step towards community or other self-help (see more below).
Most people don’t take the time for positive solitude.
As a society, we would be better served if people felt they could take time to enjoy being with self-alone, in quiet, especially, so to mull over major and minor aspects of life; come up with a cogent, realistic-based, forward-facing plan; calm down and rest, at a job started (and therefore “well done”).
By the end of the process, one should have had moments of peaceful reprieve — that’s where the real-magic of regeneration and re-creation begins — tiny, fleeting moments, being built upon, almost imperceptibly, until the tides turn.
For those who feel the pull of solitude, try to make that sacred space for yourself.
For those who burn the candle at both ends, try to begin by just taking-time-for-self without an agenda at all.
For those who feel “burned” by family, society, illness, Life, take the time, and then also make sure that solitude is not used as a venue to “retreat” from Life; gently, challenge yourself to do what you need to regain health and inner-peace and a realistic-based, forward-facing view.
It can be a simple journey or a complex one. For support, there are several options; there have to be options, as in a busy, often shallow, world people may not always be available or even make themselves available. So, I always make sure that I incorporate a homeopathic remedy that has “saved” me, many times, from despair, from the ravages of major stress of mind and body thrown at me (by choices-made or, unavoidably, by Life). It’s called Bach’s “Rescue Remedy” and it can be found in the best health stores or online.
Dr. Edward Bach, MD developed this remedy about 80 years ago, (as one of 39 remedies – learn more about all of them). They are to re-tune one’s bioenergy-field (which we call “balance” or “harmony”) in mind, body and spirit, after those have been assaulted, sometimes for a life-time, by bad memories, bad experiences, stresses of all kinds, over-work, over-worry etc. etc. The essences are safe to use in all circumstances and with all over-the-counter and prescription medicines. They should always be kept at least 3 feet away from anything electrical or an electrical field. They should not be “scanned” at the check-out.
You can learn more at the original (British) Bach Centre site or at Nelson’s, the UK and US manufacturer / distributor.
Bach’s Rescue Remedy, especially, is for crisis. It will support oneself on one’s journey through Life — with all our Journey’s twists and turns, pits of despair, mountain tops of glory and the rolling plains (where most of us dwell, in desperation or in intermittent joys).
Without guidance, communal support and an esoteric matrix, few of us lead lives in peacefulness or happiness all the time or even most of the time, although Happiness is our natural birthright. Our society regularly torpedoes us with its core-emphasis. In fact, many find little happiness, at all, especially when personal or societal times are tough.
But the POSSIBILITY for CHANGE is always there! From that, we should take courage and strength. Each person can find Their Joy, Their Peace so they can fashion the Life they were meant to contribute to.
And, the Bach essences will help anyone and everyone, and anything alive. Period. They are a modern extension of humanity’s oldest medicines, still used by native tribes around the globe, and by the Australian aborigines, in an unbroken use of 50,000 years. People don’t keep medicines that don’t work. These work!
Those who attempt to walk out of their personal pits of despair, with or without aid, are the real heroes. It is always possible, and solitude, used well, is one tool to make a journey to Wholeness.

In Love and Light — with hope for a year of healing and happiness, for us all.
